Hunter and Kelsey as the fourth generation on the farm are honored to begin to join Meg and Rob, the third generation on the farm, in stewarding it well, and keeping it a community gathering place. While Meg and Rob continue their focus of Gardenworks at the intersection of Arts and Agriculture, a destination space of great beauty and charm, Hunter and Kelsey are beginning to add in aspects at the intersection of Health and Agriculture, a place of refuge for the restoration of land and health.
We hope you will join us as our dreams, vision, work and efforts continue to grow like many tiny seeds planted here over the generations.
The “Pick Your Own Healthcare” Fields continue into year three in which community members are invited to harvest cut flowers and vegetables along with the farm’s legacy blueberries and raspberries. The fields overflow with gorgeous cut flowers including dhalias, snap dragons, many varieties of zinnias, sunflowers, and new in 2024 a section for ideal dried flowers. The vegetables include everything from cherry tomatoes to sweet potatoes, kale to watermelon and everything in between. In addition, “Second Saturdays” are offered where you’ll find Kelsey teaching a Food for Life class from 3-5pm on a different food + health topic including blood sugar, digestive health, brain foods, heart health, cancer survival and prevention, etc. You are welcome to stay after or join at 5pm for a Community Plant Powered Potluck perfect for newbie and plant veterans alike to enjoy new recipes cooked by all. In September the second annual Family Farm Fitness event with the YMCA will be held in coordination with the Washington County Bounty Tour.
In November an Empowered for Health Event is offered including a Lifestyle Medicine lecture led by Hunter, MD, a group harvest in the fields, cooking demonstration and multi-course plant-based farm to table dinner.
