Washington County, Our Community

Gardenworks is a family farm, a greenhouse, a hub for lifestyle medicine, a berry patch, a marketplace of handcrafts and local foods in season.

Our educational classes express our enthusiasm for horticulture. And, now, with the 4 th generation on the farm, the programming will increase the awareness of lifestyle medicine and the importance of nutrition, exercise and social engagement.

We’ll continue to celebrate the talents of local artists and artisans in our gallery as well as the hard work of neighbor farmers. Our farm setting provides a relaxed environment, fresh air and a direct connection between the land and people. The pleasure of picking blueberries at their peak and tasting organic spinach only hours after harvest teaches the true flavor of good food.

Food for Life Classes and community potlucks will highlight the healthy power of food from the ground up- a top pillar of Lifestyle Medicine. Fitness classes in the fields will combine 4 of the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine: physical fitness, social and emotional connection, stress reduction and sleep quality, date nights in the fields will also offer opportunities to enjoy the pillars of social and emotional connection, healthy food, as well as stress reduction as we welcome you to enjoy a deep breath of fresh air and behold beauty with others. Finally we welcome you to stay with us on the farm, in-season at the farm’s rustic Respite Cabin, or during the winter for a romantic and cozy getaway in the new En Suite @Gardenworks.

Explore The Salem Area :

Gardenworks welcomes visitors and happily shares our favorite places to experience the best of our county. In Salem, we highly recommend catching a bite to eat at On A Limb, Jacko’s, and Railroad Street Tavern.

A visit to Salem Art Works will treat you to a beautiful hilltop view among their amazing sculpture park. Also, save time for some homemade ice cream at The Battenkill Valley Creamery only a mile from Gardenworks.

If you are a book lover, explore the Wilson Homestead: Books & Antiques on Chamberlain Mill Road and visit R.S. Taylor Brewery for a great local brew or hard seltzer.

As you travel toward Vermont, visit The Merck Forest, known for its great hiking trails and outdoor programming.

You may also ask us at Gardenworks about special interests and hidden gems in our area. We love where we farm and are always proud to recommend a neighbor in business!
